Like most people, I have certain things I love.  I love the warmth of Jersey shore sand under my toes, and the way the smell of salty ocean air invades my senses from blocks away.

Then there’s the sound of the waves lapping against the shore as I sit in my beach chair engrossed in a book that takes me on an emotional joy ride.

Speaking of books, I love it when characters launch off the page and knock me a little daffy. Throw in some flaws and a good heart, and I’ll be delirious.

Most of all, I love a character who stands up when everyone else sits down.

I try to infuse these qualities into my characters. I like to think of my writing as my make-believe world where I talk to my imaginary friends.  Well, I don’t just talk to them, I fight with them.  I tell them where they need to be and what they need to say. I enjoy that.  They typically hiss back at me. I like the hissing.  Keeps things fun.
